Binghamton University uses different portals for communicating with students, mostly online

BMail: Prior to your arrival, the university will send you an email with instructions to open BMail - official email the school will communicate with you-, with detailed instructions and easy steps to follow. Once you created your BMail account you will have access to a group of services linked to that account, such as Google Calendar and Google Chat, as well as Google Drive and Google Sites. Through your BMail account, professors and

classmates will reach out to you, and you’ll receive newsletters and university updates. Also, you can use it to create student accounts on platforms such as Spotify -Spotify students are bundled with Hulu and Showtime, so you’ll have access to music and TV.

B-Number: This is the primary identification number for students. Your B-Number will be sent to you upon receipt of your admissions application to Binghamton. This specific number assigned to each student grants access to university platforms, Learning Managing System (My Courses), and spaces such as the gym.

BU student ID: Besides the BU number, you will get a BU student ID, which you can get from the Student Administrative Building on the Main Campus upon your arrival. You will receive information about it as you set up your BU brain and portal. On this site, you will also be able to learn about the following which is necessary for you as a student of BU.

MyBinghamton portal: This is the main platform with centralized access to BU Brain user-friendly self-service portal, where students can utilize many services, such as health portal, academic calendar, etc.. In the portal, you will receive news and updates of important events and activities, and you will be able to access your personal student information and course records.

BU Brain Self-service: Through this page, you will be able to access your personal student information, such as Student Accounts, Financial Aid, Course Registration, and Transcripts. Also, BU Brain is the preferred way to register for courses and access course materials.

Library resources: Binghamton University has several libraries, but there are two libraries that MPA students use regularly, one located on the main campus and a smaller library at the University Downtown Center. There you can have access to the readings, use the study rooms, printer, and scan services -activated by the BU student ID.

myCourses: Binghamton University manages the courses through myCourses portal, and once you are registered for a particular course, you’ll be automatically enrolled to myCourses. In the platform, you will be able to view the announcements, syllabus, and course materials for the courses that you registered in the account. This is also the space to submit the majority of the assignments.
