Downtown Fun
There are many activities spread out over the year. The most important is the LUMA Festival, which takes place on the first weekend of September. Other events are Porchfest, Blues on the Bridge, Saint Patrick’s Day Parade, eatBing, and the Garlic Festival. On the first weekend of every month, you can participate on the First Friday Art Walk, where galleries located on and near State St. open the doors with brand new exhibits. In the area, there are also a few theatre companies, the Tri-Cities Opera and other cultural organizations. For more detailed cultural information visit Broome County Arts Council. Also, by exploring the downtown area, you will come across bars, restaurants, coffee places for entertainment, as well as local retailing. If you are a fan of the rollerskates, Binghamton has an amazing and super affordable place called Skate Estate.
Binghamton is famous for its speedies. Spiedies are small pieces of marinated meat (lamb, chicken, pork, or beef) that can be skewered and then grilled. You can find more information by clicking on this link: https://www.spiediefest.com/festival-info/. Binghamton was smart enough to add balloons to it and made Speedie Fest and Baloon Rally. Make sure not to miss it!
